This gated private resort of eleven thousand acres boasts several golf courses, ski slopes, tennis courts, miles of hiking trails, a lake, swimming pools, and the beautiful scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since its beginnings in the early 1970s, inns, shops, and restaurants, as well as several thousand condominiums and houses, have been built. Most of the construction is rustic with wood siding, shingle roofs, and stonework. Although one prominent ridge bristles with condominiums, most of the development's buildings are carefully nestled into the landscape.
