The rear walls of the octagonal springhouse, built of sandstone laid in random rubble, are mortared directly into a rocky bluff known as White Cliff. The spring, estimated to be 1,000 feet deep, maintains a constant temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Capon Run issues from the spring and courses down the northeast side of the grounds.
