Veering northwest from its angular intersection with Center Street, this tree-shaded avenue was Princeton's favored turn-of-the-twentiethcentury address. Among the most imposing houses is the Hale House, 209 Hale Avenue, a yellow brick American Foursquare with Colonial Revival details. Its long, one-story Ionic porch terminates at one end with a gazebo.
