The architectural centerpiece of Logan is the Harrison County Courthouse (1910), designed by the Detroit architect J. E. Mills. The architect produced a conventional Beaux-Arts design in its detailing, although its form and proportions—linear, sharply angular, and vertical—are really nineteenth century. Instead of the usual drum and dome, Mills created a low cupolalike form with angled corners and a segmental roof. The courthouse is located at the intersection of Seventh Street and Fifth Avenue. Nearby on Seventh Street, just east of Third Avenue, is the community's most handsome building, a small two-story commercial building now occupied by the Harrison Mutual Insurance Apartment Building agency (c. 1915). The windows, entrance, and cornice are sumptuously and beautifully ornamented in delicate classical motifs carefully cast in glazed terracotta.
