Members of the Amsler, Kleberg, and Von Roeder families founded this community in 1832, one of Texas's early German settlements and home to the state's first agricultural society. From the 1850s, Cat Spring was the heart of Czech immigration and settlement in the Blackland Prairie of Central Texas.
