The library is nestled into a hillside and bermed with banks of native plants on the north and east, with a lower level of the L plan exposed by glazing at the northwest corner. The mass of the dark gray standing-seam metal roof dominates the design with its horizontal emphasis. The handsome oak entry to the upper level on the south has a generous porte-cochère. The narrow windows are grouped between bands of raised courses in the rough cinderblock walls, under wide, overhanging eaves.
