This updated Shingle Style design uses traditional elements such as towers, rounded corners, ribbon and eyebrow dormers, broad, overhanging rooflines, and white cedar shingles. The owners are New Englanders whose homes back east are McKim, Mead and White designs inclued in Vincent Scully's two books on the Shingle Style. The massing and details of East Coast forebears are incorporated in this 5,000-square-foot, two-story home, but more glazing adds brightness and mountain views. A gatehouse serves as a detached garage and privacy shield.
