County commissioners specified that this single-story, side-gabled structure with an open bell tower be built “of Chicago lumber with good substantial adobe walls.” Golden stucco ties together various cinderblock and cast stone additions. This small, informal courthouse blends into the streetscape instead of dominating its surroundings, as courthouses usually do.
