Elbert County Library (St. Ann Catholic Church)

-A A +A
St. Ann Catholic Church
1903. 331 E. Comanche St.

A fine example of vernacular stonework, this one-story church with a steep, gabled roof has walls of rough-cut, uncoursed local sandstone in a soft yellow shade. The stone is used for the building and the surrounds of Gothic-arched windows and blind round arches on the facade. St. Ann's depended on circuit-riding missionaries from Denver for masses and other services until 1970, when it became the public library.
