Inside this one-story, beige brick, New Deal Moderne monument is Ila McAfee Turner's 1940 mural, The Wealth of the West, depicting a cattle drive across the Gunnison River, where an old prospector and his burrow are panning while a fly fisherman tests the waters. This colorful mural captures the Gunnison country's purple sagebrush hills, turquoise water, and dark evergreens. The interior still has the original terrazzo floor, gray marble wain-scoting, and white Colorado Yule marble trim, but a new, dark-colored tubular entry canopy is out of place.
