Stratton Hall

Harlan Thomas, who also did design work for Colorado State University in Fort Collins, designed a three-story building of gray Golden-made brick on a Lyons sandstone base and the first steel-frame construction on the campus. The foundation was made with crushed slag from the remains of the Golden Smelting Works. Remarkably unchanged, this classic, named for mining millionaire Winfield Scott Stratton, a trustee and benefactor of the school, still has its original skylight and distinctive curvilinear parapets with quatre-foil windows.
