Stone House

-A A +A
c. 1870; 1975 restoration, Langdon Morris. W. Yale Ave. and 2800 S. Estes St. (NR)

Eighteen-inch-thick cobblestone walls with windows and doors framed with Morrison sandstone are eye-catching features of this stone Farm-house. Joseph Hodgson, a New Yorker who had joined the California gold rush, built the side-gabled house, with a rear attached shed of the same carefully matched Bear Creek river rock, on his 640-acre Bear Creek farmstead.
