Eugene Groves of Denver made the facade of the county courthouse a symmetrical exercise in Beaux-Arts aesthetics focusing on a grand entry with bronze doors. Smooth stone block rises two and one-half stories to a dentiled cornice. A molded cornice divides first and second levels and serves as a base for a recessed central section of the second floor, containing paired Ionic columns separating round-topped fanlight windows. The rhythm of these bays is continued across the first level and at the sides of the second level by flat pilasters that rise through the parapet. Behind is a fine buff brick addition (1974, Vanderwood and Henry) with large bays of tinted glass separated by raised brick bands.
