Rancher Jack Chew homesteaded here on Pool Creek in 1910, building first a dugout, which still exists, then a hewn log ranch house (1940) and outbuildings with gable and shed roofs. His son Rial Chew ran the ranch until the 1960s. Now abandoned, the spread has been preserved as ruins within the Dinosaur National Monument, as an example of typical ranch architecture.
