General Palmer and the D&RG founded this resort along Goose Creek near the railroad. Its remnants include some early log accommodations, a one-story lodge of stuccoed concrete with a curvilinear parapet, and old-fashioned hot springs plunge pools lined in concrete with amethyst crystals set in the rims. Somewhat incongruously, the ranch also hosted a company town where an intact fluorspar mine and mill are still surrounded by clapboard cottages, a bunk-house, and a foreman's residence. Halfway up a scenic hillside is the one-room clapboard Wagon Wheel Gap Schoolhouse (c. 1927), distinguished by a balustraded entry porch and an open bell tower with a pyramidal cap. The school was moved to this site and restored on a new concrete foundation.
