Schaffnit House

-A A +A
1908, Elmer Baer, builder. 1983, restoration, Robert C. McHugh. 405 Oak St.

The steep-pitched metal roof on this Queen Anne Style house has lancet-arched fascias in the gable ends. Clapboard siding rises into the recessed areas created by the arches. The eaves have double scrolled brackets, and the spaces between the fascias and the roof are covered in bands of square and diamond-cut wood shingles. Henry Schaffnit, Jr., was a mayor of Steamboat Springs and backer of the Steamboat Pilot.
