W. J. Farr, Eaton's first mayor (1902–1903) and proprietor of the Owl Creek Ranch and cattle feedlot, had this two-story Shingle Style frame dwelling built for his family. Prominent gables on front and sides are finished in decorative shingle patterns, and a bracketed hood above three second-story windows in the front gable brings the upper peak out flush with the eaves. Paired first-floor bay windows are hidden behind the enclosed front porch. A polygonal oriel on the left side houses the stair landing. The carriage house at the rear has an unusual double four-gabled roof.
