Victorian Veranda Bed and Breakfast (Smillie House)

Rancher and hardware store owner Jack W. Smillie built this two-story clapboarded frame house with Carpenter's Gothic detailing. Its irregular plan, steep roof, balconies, bays, and wrap-around veranda epitomize the Queen Anne Style. During the 1930s, it was nicknamed the “Beehive House” because some thirty-five people lived here. Restored and opened in 1989 as a bed and breakfast, it has the original wood-work and many antiques, including some fine Eastlake pieces.
