The last of the stone buildings erected by the plantation, the store's steeply pitched gable roof breaks to flow down over the central entrance lanai with its three stone piers. The boutique-esque bay windows are recent additions, and the interior has been modified to accommodate the display of merchandise. Although built and owned by the plantation, the store was independently operated by Kwai Chew “Chow” Lung, son of Lung Wah Chee, who started Kong Lung Store in the 1890s and beginning in 1902 worked out of the former plantation store building, before moving into the plantation's stone store. The family operated the general merchandise store until 1979.
