Bachelors' Quarters

-A A +A
1924. Renton Rd.

Containing eight apartments, this U-shaped building originally provided housing for unmarried haoles working in the office. This large, single-wall building presents an attractive front, thanks to the gable ends' simple decorative treatment. Originally, each of the units had a courtyard-fronting lanai, but these were enclosed over the years to provide additional interior space. Today each apartment has its own kitchen, although the initial occupants had to eat at the company store and restaurant.
