The farmhouse is a 14-room structure with a gable roof and walls of soft red brick (which were later stuccoed over). In style, the building is Italianate. The present entrance porch was added around 1895, and a number of other changes, particularly in the interior, were made over the years. The dwelling was restored between 1971 and 1976 in a general way, as it had been during the years 1861 through 1910. The house is now open to the public.
