The thirties Moderne mode is expressed here in a rectilinear two-story box sheathed in steel sheet metal. Although there are consciously devised window patterning and lines throughout the dwelling, the design seems to convey out-and-out rational functionalism. The architects succeeded, however, in projecting a sense of domesticity by the scale of the openings and by the projection of a number of boxlike volumes off the first floor.
