This 603-acre park is situated within hilly forest land overlooking the Cedar River. The roads and trails and the open glades for picnicking and recreational activities have been planned in an Olmstedian “naturalistic” fashion. As one enters the park one comes upon a pair of rustic stone posts and wood gates (c. 1934); further on is the ranger's office and house (c. 1934), mildly Colonial Revival in character. Architecturally, the jewel of the park is the Stone Lodge (1934). The image tends to the rural Colonial.
