This park, originally set aside as the county fairgrounds, was revamped in 1935. In the southeast corner of the park is located the 1848 Reese log cabin, which was moved from its rural site in nearby Palo Alto township. This small one-room cabin has a shed-roofed front porch and a large masonry chimney at its right gable end. The most eye-catching element in the park is the Streamline Moderne band shell of 1937. This semi-circular shell is similar to many others constructed throughout the country, including, of course, the well-known Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The Maytag Park band shell is unusual in that a different radius has been used for the exterior form from that of the inner bowl.
