Rock Island Passenger Railroad Station

When built, and during much of the years following, this station looked out onto a small park planted with trees. By the early 1980s the park was overgrown, and the building was fast becoming a picturesque ruin. The station itself is essentially un-decorated, and relies on its plain brick walls and variously gabled roofs (supported by struts) to establish its character. The usual control room projects from the body of the station on the platform side, and a good-sized lunette window has been placed in its gable end.
