The format of this two-story brick dwelling with a side hall is that of the Italianate style. Except for the entrance porch detailed in wood, the building relies on its simple un-decorated brick walls to convey an almost puritanical frontier presence. Two unusual features of its design are the wide entablature and cornice carried out entirely in brick, and, to the side, the tripartite round-headed window, which seems more Queen Anne than Italianate.
