The thin, elongated form of the Ellery-Kratz house conveys the feeling that it is a two-story town house waiting around for others to be built on each side. In style it is French Second Empire, with a concave mansard roof. The pediments above the windows, some segmental and others curved, with the hint of a consoled keystone, are boldly carved and project from the brick walls of the house. The present wide entrance porch across the front of the house, with its thin columns, is a Colonial Revival addition of a much later date.
