The central section of the cruciform-plan station announces through its height, large arched windows, and doors that this is the main waiting room of the station. The two somewhat lower wings to each side have a pattern of arched openings. In style the station's precedent is the French and Italian Romanesque. The terracotta band of corbeled arches below the eaves and gable ends and the brickwork are particularly impressive.
