The silhouette of this dwelling, with its segmented domed bay and tower, is Queen Anne; but the simplified details, the Tuscan columns, and the flowing shingle-and-stone surfaces point to the rising popularity of the Colonial Revival style in the 1890s. The house was originally designed and built for G. L. LeVeille, the first contractor for the courthouse. Because of difficulties with the courthouse construction, he left town, and Walsh purchased and completed the house.
