A tiled hipped roof and an entablature with windows crown this two-and-a-half-story stucco-sheathed box. Everything seems overscaled on the front elevation except for the pair of bay windows that seem to belong to a smaller, less formal house. This dwelling, with a few nods to the Chicago work of George W. Maher, was designed for one of the owners of the Van Allen Department Store, who in 1913 engaged Louis H. Sullivan for its design (see ME066).
