The sources for this brick and stone-trimmed Roman Catholic church, one assumes, were French Gothic—not the original thirteenthor fourteenth-century Gothic, but rather the French Gothic Revival of the mid-nineteenth century. Each face of the principal tower exhibits a round window whose surrounding stone molding seems to be a ship's wheel. Above, the cornice with its gable-roofed wall dormer (created when the wall surface continues up and through the eaves of the roof) is closely akin to the contemporary Eastlake style.
