The Roberts house illustrates how closely in tune a client and an architect in Iowa could be with the rapidly changing world of architectural fashion. This house has some vestiges of the Queen Anne in elevation and plan, but basically it is Colonial Revival. Present are such elements as overscaled round and lunette windows, Palladian windows, and porches with Tuscan columns and balustrades. The front and side porches are connected by a balustraded terrace; within, there is a central living hall with an open staircase.
