The designer of the little one-and-a-half-story cottage was obviously determined to get in as many references as possible, and he certainly succeeded. Though essentially Queen Anne in style, the composition is enriched with both Italianate and Eastlake details. The small gable over the entrance of the front porch is surfaced in a floral pattern, and this lush decoration continues down into the thin columns and the sawed and turned work of the porch. The windows and bays on the ground floor are all overscaled.
