California's turn-of-the-century Mission Revival style was employed off and on in the Midwest, especially for recreation and exhibition buildings. The designer of the entrance building at the county fairgrounds has simplified the style, but his composition of a three-arched loggia balanced on each side by towers with hipped roofs was a familiar scheme within the style. Even the wood gateposts have repeated the theme of a miniaturized hipped roof.
