Foster House

-A A +A
c. 1915. 405 N. Market

The popular Tudor Revival style was utilized for this substantial upper-middle-class house.

(The building is now used as the school district headquarters.) The half-timbering in a number of the gables contrasts with the solidity of the brick walls. A large living porch with low segmental arches projects off the front of the house. Much of the wood detailing, in both the interior and exterior, is decorated. Some of the more lavish decoration can be seen in the bargeboards of the gable ends with their alternating pattern of floral motifs and shields.
