After a five-year struggle, Hillsdale city officials succeeded in winning approval for the bonding for this building. Its pentagonal footprint conforms to its site at the triangular intersection of N. Howell and N. Broad streets and Carleton Road. Huge Ionic stone columns front the gray canyon-cut stone and orange Puritan pressed-brick building, which is impressive in its restrained dignity. In 1997 the building was rehabilitated.
