One of the first large-scale fossil fuel plants of the Detroit Edison Company, this massive, sleek, steel and brick powerhouse is a Detroit landmark on the river. The seven large smokestacks, each 227 feet tall, are commonly known by Detroiters as the “Seven Sisters.” Another powerhouse with two stacks, the “Two Brothers,” was added in 1951.
