Dew Mar Dairy Farm's working barn is truly round, not octagonal, as are so many barns that are described as round. It was built by Homer H. Shoemaker into the bank of land, so that there are ground-level entrances to the haymow above and the animal stalls below. The exterior is sheathed in red corrugated metal. The interior of the haymow illustrates the advantage of a round barn over a rectangular structure, as it allows for capacious storage unrestricted by interior beams. There is a large corrugated-metal addition on the north side of the building.
