Smaller than St. Michael's (BU5), St. Paul's attests to the modest resources of the Episcopal congregation, but the choice of architects harks back to pre–World War I patronage patterns when Zantzinger's father's firm designed the Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia (see PH148), as well as such notable churches as St. Paul's in Chestnut Hill (PH168). This church is equally conservative in form, recalling early-twentieth-century suburban churches without a hint that the modern world has arrived.
