One of the better Venetian Gothic houses in the city, this house borrows its basic composition from Furness and Hewitt's Ashurst houses (1871) at 2206–2208 Walnut. Decorative brickwork, bands of polychromatic stone, richly carved Gothic-styled detail, and a crowning band of sandstone give this corner building considerable presence.
