Stephenson's major 1920s house was this expansive, one-story house for Mabel and Joseph S. Hall. Its gray stucco walls, red tile roof, and street-facing arched loggia are more in the spirit of the Craftsman movement of the 1910s than the Spanish Mediterranean style of the 1920s. Yet they enable the Hall House to claim a sense of place amid the town blocks of Beeville's east-side neighborhood. Advancing and receding wings and solid and void juxtapositions give the house a strong spatial presence, enhanced by the mature cedar trees and other vegetation dotting its wide front lawn.
