Home to the oldest Protestant congregation in Fredericksburg, the Gothic Revival Holy Ghost Lutheran Church exhibits the most powerful use of local limestone in town. Here, the form of the church, which is somewhat crowded on its small site, is enhanced by the enormous scale of the rock-faced stone blocks used in its construction. Unfortunately, the designer or builder of this muscular edifice is unknown.
