The Caile House is a rare surviving example of the house type with no interior hall, a type that was common in the city in the nineteenth century, as seen at La Villita ( SA38). Built directly on the front property line in the Mexican tradition, the stuccoed limestone house features three doorways at the center of the facade, with single windows placed at either end, an atypical fenestration pattern. The rear shed addition is the location of the main chimney stack, perhaps the original kitchen hearth.
