John Little House

-A A +A
1896. 502 N. Victoria St.

This two-story, side-passage-plan house is an almost giddy exercise in triangulation. The open gable above the front porch is mirrored in an inverted triangle composed of a pair of fanlike arch segments carried on a turned wood post, which appears to be holding up a projecting second-floor window bay containing myriad nested triangles.

At 501 W. Power Avenue is the former Brownson Elementary School of 1909. From the 1970s until 2002 this was the studio of Victoria's best-known twentieth-century artist, Madeline Fleming O'Connor, and for a time of her daughter, artist Nancy O'Connor.
