This well-preserved log barn, situated in a narrow valley north of Davenport, is a reminder of Buchanan County's agricultural past. Built by local farmer “Shack” Compton, the three-crib structure features half-dovetail-notched corners and overhanging eaves supported by simple angled brackets. Each opening at the front is covered by a batten door with strap hinges and a wooden latch. Shed additions are seen at the rear and south side. Still attached to the north side of the barn is a political poster promoting a candidate in a 1960s local election.
