Edgar House (Edgarton)

-A A +A
Edgarton
c. 1850, c. 1885. West side of WV 63 (Walnut St.), opposite intersection with U.S. 219 (Main St.)

Ronceverte's most impressive Queen Anne mansion is a late-nineteenth-century remodeling and enlargement of an earlier house. Colonel Ellery C. Best, manager of the St. Lawrence Boom and Manufacturing Company, was responsible for the changes and additions, the most pronounced of which are a multiwindowed circular tower capped with a conical roof, a two-story polygonal bay, and an expansive veranda.
