Ever since the turn of the twentieth century, travelers have done a double take here. Local lore has it that William Burnside Lynch built these identical Queen Anne houses to appease his two notoriously competitive daughters, Anna and Byrd. Be that as it may, the houses remain, each with its rounded corner turret on one side, angled first-floor bay on the other, and clipped gable roof. Both are in good condition, although one has received more embellishment in recent years than the other.
