Originally located across Main Street, this log house was reassembled in the side yard of the Hugh Caperton Law Office to become an exhibit of the Monroe County Historical Society. One of the earliest houses in Union, it meets the specifications set out by the trustees in 1799 requiring dwellings to be of log, at least 16 by 18 feet, and two stories high. The house has a side-hall plan, and there was originally a kitchen wing to the rear.
