A chaste neoclassical essay, highlighted by a deep, two-story Ionic portico set within end bays, Point Pleasant's post office has smooth limestone ashlar walls with an occasional bit of ornamental detail. A long flight of steps, made necessary by the high granite base, or podium, on which the building rests, leads to the central entrance. The post office, far more impressive than might be expected for a town of only 2,000 when it was built, may be taken as evidence of early-twentieth-century optimism regarding Point Pleasant's potential.
