John Lautner, a Los Angeles architect who is one of Frank Lloyd Wright's better-known apprentices, gave Aspen one of his freeform concrete houses. With its earth dome covered by grass, it epitomizes Lautner's propensity for curvilinear forms, the dynamic interaction of his buildings with the environment, and his inventiveness (a section of the living room pivots open to become an outdoor deck).
